Carnival Time in Stavros

Sunday March 6th 2005

Despite the increasing cold and wind, the northern Ithacans and a few southerns, came out to support the Childrens' Carnival in Stavros.  Big smiles and good cheer permeated through the Square as the Primary schoolers, parents and family members  spread colour across a grey day.

Getting into the spirit of things

All of Stavros contributes to these events, but special thanks must go to Aliki and Sevasti.  Their efforts of charity for the Northern Ithaca community goes unchallenged.

There was dancing, burst the baloon, musical chairs and potatoe sack races in the Square.   Mothers danced round the May Pole (well March Pole really) and the digital cameras and mobile phone cams were snapping at every opportunity.

A cheery afternoon lets us all forget about the rain and wind and cold of the past month. Thank you to Stavros Council and Primary School.  Now it's off to the Zac for some Galatobouriko (Custard Pie) and a good hot drink
