Who's Here - Summer Lodown 2007

All the faces of summer on Ithaca. Visitors, ex-pats, the curious, the accidental, the transitory, the adventurers, the sailors, the backpackers, the walkers, the runners, the swimmers, the honeymooners, the retirees, the artists, the poets, the beautiful and the ugly. Faces from all over the world come to this small island and can end up on who's here for the world to see.

Sat 11 Aug - Right - Costa, Maria and George are here from Dayton Ohio. It's a long road to Exoghi, where they have been fixing up their family home, but they wouldn't miss out on coming to Ithaca for anything. Ithaki is in their soul.

Sun 12 Aug - Below - Luca and CC are here from Bologna Italy. They arrived in Frikes from Lefkada in search of a room with a view, a little difficult in August without a booking, but the owners of the Frikes hotel and Ouzerie made room for them.
Fri 10 Aug - Left - Casey Koutsounis, taking it easy on Ithaca before she heads back to Melbourne Australia to tackle her consuming career in IT, where she is on call 24 hours a day, organizing engineers and technicians for whatever may go wrong. Casey is also one of the new faces in the Ithacan Philanthropic Society of Melbourne, Committee. A little birdy has told us that given the chance, Casey could just hang out on Ithaca and be quite happy.

Ithaki Who's Here 2007

Left - George Kostopoulos is on Ithaca every year for the Summer. He travels annually from Sydney Australia where he chooses to live, but his love of Ithaki, his birth place, can't be quashed by this great distance. His brother and his family from Polyctor Tours - Ithakis local Travel Agency, still live in the south of the island in Vathy, but George likes to hang around the villages in the north. George is a dedicated Ithaki lover.
Right - Dina Left, one of our Stavros Hairdressers and Ithaki local, shows her cousin Julie Koutsouvelis around, and what better place to get to it than the Platrithia Panighiri where Julie can meet many, many more relatives and family friends. Julie, who lives in South Africa and her sister who lives in the UK, thought Ithaki would be a good place to meet up for a sisterly reunion.

Sat 18 Aug - Above Left - Steph and Rod Moulton sailed into Ithaca to see their old friend and work colleague Dave Ayling as well as to return to the island they had fallen in love with on their last trip around the Ionian. They are here from Painswick, Glaucester for a 2 week sailing holiday which sees them return to Lefkada tomorrow and then back to the UK on Sunday. Although Rod is on holiday, he just couldn't help turning on his Blackberry, only to be inundated with emails to remind him he has a straight job (international business actually) waiting for him just days from now. Above Center - Anton is here from Capetown South Africa visiting his old school friend Nektarios who he had lost touch with for many years, only to recently discover his old friend was living on a Greek island running a restaurant. Of course he packed himself and his girl-friend onto a plane to make the trip to Ithaca. Now that he is here, there is a lot of catching up to do. Above Right - Alex is no stranger to the north of Ithaca, she is here from the UK with her mum, Janet (Below right) and sister Emma, getting re-acquainted with friends she had made on her previous visits to Ithaki, and is seen here with her latest new friend, Sofia from New York.

Above - 15 year old Tanya, who's had a couple of weeks on Ithaca on her own, and mum, Nina, here for just a few days, get ready to fly off again tomorrow, back to London, where daughter Natasha, who couldn't make it to Ithaca this year, is deep in study for a career in medicine. Nina is a London GP who has recently expanded her practice to include non-surgical cosmetic enhancement (Plastic surgery without the knife)

_______________
Sun 19 Aug - Right - Janet is a regular visitor to Ithaki, here from the UK. Nothing seems to be able to keep her away from the place, not even a broken leg. A few years ago, when she was restricted to walking with crutches, after a serious leg break, Janet still managed to travel over middle Europe to land on Ithakis shores. Her daughters Alex and Emma have almost grown up here and have made many friends over the years.

Below Left - Janets daughter Emma (right) with her friend Lucy.

Below - An interesting face around Frikes over the past week is this of a basket salesman, walking his trade.
