Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th of June were very quiet all around Ithaca. Frikes starts to prepare for the Panighiri on Sunday. It will be a big night!

Sunday 29th June - All the Petros are celebrating their Name Day today. HRONIA POLLA!

Frikes is buzzing with Panighiri fever. Preparations are in progress for tonight.

Workers are putting up the stage, helped out by President of Frikes, Aggelos Kannas, carrying the planks of wood. All the restaurants are putting out extra tables and the meat is rolling off the truck.

P A N A G H I R I...T I M E

Monday 30th June

Going by the turnout and excitement of last nights Frikes Panighiri, it's clear that the Northern Ithacans were ready for a big party and all the tourists lucky enough to be on the island at this time were thrilled to join them in the festivities.

All the tables were full from one end of the street to the other, music echoed around Frikes from the Panighiri band which was all fired up for it's first gig for the season and the smell of the charcoal grill filled the air, intermingled, later in the night, with the smell of sweat as everyone let their hair down and danced the night into dawn.

Odysseus, Rementzo, Symposium and Penelope Restaurants put on a feast for Kings while Kikis Mini market kept the kids, big and small, in Ice cream and chocolate.

The atmosphere was electric when the owners of Rementzo Restaurant decided it was easier to break the plates than to wash them when the opportunity to keep an old tradition alive presented itself. The spectacle thrilled all those who had waited for a Greek moment such as this and thrilled the locals too when the spontaneity of the dance climaxed to this fiery show of passion. It confirmed that Zorba is alive and well in EEC.

What a great night!!!!!
