After High School, The British School of Athens, from where he received his Diploma from the British Council, Dimitris was accepted into the Veloudakis Fashion Academy and soon after secured a placement with the Greek National Theatre in the 'Costume Department' through 1978 - 1981. His appetite had been wet. The dream to be involved in theatre was becoming a reality. Dimitris Danis wanted to fill himself with knowledge about the theatre and all it entailed. From 1984 - 1987 he studied the History of Art, Costume Design and Theatre History at the acclaimed Vakalo Art School in Athens where he had the opportunity to be taught by distinguished and renowned Costume Designers Marios Angelopoulos, Vasilis Fotopoulos, Yiannis Metsikof and Dionisis Fotopoulos and Greek Directors Spiros Evangelatos, Mihalis Kakoyiannis and Yiorgos Miihailidis.
Between 1981 and 1983, Dimitris Danis was requisitioned to undertake duties far removed from his theatrical and fashion background by being drafted into the Greek Army, a duty not escaped by any young man living in Greece.

Dimitris started his duties in the Army Health Department and then onto the Army Police which took him from Athens to Corimthia, Arta to Seres, Nigrita to Thessalonica and finally back to Athens. Once back among the civilians, Dimitris Danis continued to pursue his fashion and costume design.
It wasn't long before Dimitris Danis/ talent exploded through Athens and his reputation for excellence, his commitment and his love for the theatre made him known to Actress Jenny Roussai. He worked with the well-known Greek Actress in her home and as her Professional Assistant in the Theatre. Through Jenny Roussaia, Dimitris met Maria Roussai, known Greek Painter, for who he designed sets to exhibit her artwork.
In the late 80's, Dimitris gave Seminars at the Silhouette Health Studio on fashion and accessories, make-up and deportment as well as colour co-ordination. Dimitris also designed window displays for more than 20 Athenian shops.
Dimitris Danis became a sought-after First Assistant to the stars of the Theatre. The list increased from Roussaia and Papas to Odette Nikoletti and Yiannis Metsikof. On Madam Butterfly, Dimitris Danis showed his skill at Costume Design by the immaculate embroidery he did for the costumes.
Over the next few years Dimitris Danis expanded his horizons by Producing 2 Programmes for Television. The History of The Cross for ERT 1, in co-operation with Takis Emanuel, and Ancient Female Poets for ERT 2. In 1994 through the Romano College of Fashion, he designed the costumes for Telesslia, a dramatic Monologue with dance, to be performed in the Ancient Theatre of Argos.
