Storms, wind, rain and finally snow in February. This month marks the depth of winter on the island and the depth of isolation with many choosing this month to take a holiday somewhere warm and populated. On a clear day the mountain peaks on the mainland, all covered in snow, are in perfect view and close enough to grasp. There is a razor edge to the light with a sharpened clarity and awesome vibrancy. It makes Winter sweet despite its' stinging bite and reveals in all, the weakness and strength of the soul that chooses to remain on Ithaki during this lonely time.
