After the August rush, September suffers from a little melancholy. The days are shorter and the sun a little higher in the sky. A quiet and an air of loss overtake the villages. The sudden change of atmosphere around the island, takes some adjusting to, even for those who couldn't wait for the tourist season to end. Another Summer lost to time. This period of mourning is common with many in the community, but there are things to do before the winter comes, while the weather still holds what's left of summer inside it, and besides, it's not like this community to dwell on something so elusive when the challenges of every day life are beckoning to be overcome. So, before too long, distraction by the mundane and hard work, preparations for the future, getting the kids off to school, and plainly, just getting on with the business of life, turns sadness into 'moving on', and before anyone is aware, September is over and October holds the key to renewed possibilities.
