Garden Theatre Vathy, Ithaca

Three popular Greek artists filled the Garden Theatre in Vathy with a lot of 'Kefi'. Organizer Alexandros Taflambas on behalf of The Fimios, was all smiles when the success of the night was revealed.  Good ticket sales.  Happy people. The hills were truly alive with the sound of music.

Even before the band started, the Theatre was buzzing with excitement.

Pop idols usually mean kids and teenagers, wide-eyed and vibrating at the front of stage, wanting to get a good look, photo or even a touch from their idolized vocalists. Yiannis, Manolis and especially Rallia were happy to oblige their enthusiastic fans.

Not a song passed the lips of Yiannis, Manolis and Rallia, that wasn't instantly recognizable and immediately sung along to by the large crowd. Audience participation was at a level I have personally never experienced at a concert. Greek singers don't just entertain their audience, they are a part of their psyche like blood running through their veins. The emotions of an entire community came spilling out through the lyrics that were echoed around the Garden Theatre in Vathy, Ithaca, Greece.

The backing band was excellent. Thrashy guitar, violin and bouzouki sharing notes in this beat oriented music.  Greek Pop at its' very best.

Each artist performed a solo set with a song here and there performed as duets, usually with Rallia who came into the Greek music scene through the very popular Reality TV series, Fame Story. Rallia rook second place to Greek/American, Kalomira, and although she did not win the money, she won the hearts of her audience and the respect of her fellow musicians, who quickly rallied for her inclusion in their concerts.

The Yiannis Kotsiras, Rallia Christidi and Manolis Famelos concert was a great success and was enjoyed by all who attended. Although Rallia Christidi was a performer in a supporting role at this concert, it was clear the audience loved her. As she stepped out of the dark and into the stage lights, cheers at the volume of a Madonna appearance echoed through the Garden Theatre. Her lack of pop singer glitter was a refreshing change. Rallias' love for music and performing was not cluttered with superficial bolstering, which allowed her voice and her factor X to shine through unabated. Manolis and Yiannis have been adored for many years, and Ithaca swooned at the sight of them both. This Pop crackled!
