Second Hellospheric Network Workshop on Ithaca - Wednesday 7th May 2008
Odysseus on the Sun? A NASA space probe with the namesake of Odyssea measuring solar flares in 3-D? Americans crowded into the Cultural Center? A classical duet and a band playing traditional Greek songs written to poems by Ithacans? I was confused, but I took photos anyway. For full info on what NASA and Ithaki have in common, please write to Spyros Arsenis at www.arsenis.info. Spiros Arsenis, a well known Ithacan who has also been Mayor to the community some time back, has involved Ithaca in many interesting associations to do with art, music, Homer, Odysseus and now even NASA, so when he asked me to go along for the night to take some photographs, I was of course, very willing. It was also an opportunity to see his daughter Athena Arsenis, actress, vocalist and one of Ithakis talented young artists at work as one of the vocalists in the traditional band Dimodokos.
