September 2013 - Friday 6th - Don't know what's going on with the weather, but it seems to be one day on and one day off in regard to the sunshine. Today, there were even some drops of rain.
Left - We don't have clear Autumn vegetation, but there are some signs in the mountains that autumn is here.
Saturday 7th - Weekends are quite relaxed on Ithaca. Changeovers for yachting companies and holiday companies, means that it's a quiet break before the new shift starts. There are still bus tours coming in, but at this time of year, the buses aren't so full.
Tonight is the Panighiri at Kathara so head on up there to take part in this traditional festivity.
Stavros can sometimes be a little neglected on the tourist trail over summer, but it's northern Ithaca's center, and keeps us all going no matter what the season.
Sunday 8th - Yesterday, it was another quite strange weather day. Early it was sunny, late it was sunny, inbetween overcast and at dusk, over on the mainland, there was a little lightning. Nothing on Ithaca though except a cooler night with some wind.

Left - Vathy was very quiet last night. It seemed most of its residents were up at Kathara for the panighiri.

An enormous crowd gathered up at Kathara Monastery for it's annual festival last night. With church royalty all in one place, locals made their way up the mountain to the restored monastery in droves.

Monday 9th - A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit Bulgaria, a strange and poor country that amidst what's lacking, has immense beauty. It was like going back in time a couple of hundred years.

Already a quarter way through September. Time is passing so quickly. Before too long, we'll have October skies and rain, so it's a good thing that the weather is fine right now. Sunny and warm.
The summer season may be slowing down, but it's not over. Still lots of yachts coming in, probably til end of August, and private holiday companies too, have their guests coming in well into next month.
