7th June was a busy day all around the Northern Island. The Cafes and restaurants were full in most places. So much for the June lull. It's good to see the streets buzzing with people. Ithaca's expecting a boom long weekend coming up for the Day of the Holy Spirit.

Denis Sikiotis was today put in charge of showing a group of Canadian University Students the historic sites of Ithaca. We caught up with them in Frikes.

The good weather is bringing in the Flotillas and the holidayers. June is not the quiet month everyone was expecting, to the contrary, it's busy, busy, busy. Ithacans have always wanted an extended season. This year may be the start of something beautiful.

June 12th

Lakis (Lucky) Vlassopoulos landed on Ithacas shores this afternoon. Now Polis beach will no doubt be cleaned up and given it's yearly face-lift as he gets ready to bring out the Banana Lounges for the sunworshippers.

It's the long weekend and it feels ike mid August on Ithaca. The weather's hot, the beaches are full and there's a buzz in every village as the 'Weekenders' from Athens and Patras get the most out of their short time on the island. It's good to see the usual faces. Mandy and Elizabeth are well known for starting the dance floor action. 'Everybody dance now.'

Life's good here on Ithaca

The fruit and vegie Mobile Markets are back in force. Is that John Wayne?

After a big lunch these students had a good look around Frikes taking photos and doing a little souvenir shopping.

Picturesque Kioni is still attracting the Flotillas to dock in it's harbor.

Freda and Spiros Lecatsas arrived 14th June. They'll be here until the end of September visiting relatives. It's been four years since Freda was on Ithaca last and ten for Spiros. They're enjoying the simple things like cold beer and a Pikilia at Frikes.

It's Brians and Angelas last night in Kioni. They head back to the UK to catch up on the sleep they've been missing out on in the two weeks here. They love being on Ithaca and Ithaca loves to see them every year. Bon Voyage. See you again next June.
