March 2015 - Monday 2nd - Kalo Mina (Happy Month) That's the greeting on everyone's lips for the first days of March. It's been a rainy couple of weeks, but having said that, it does mean that Ithaca is gorgeously lush and green, wherever you cast your eye.

Thursday 5th - The rain seems to have dissipated now, leaving us with warm(ish) sunny days. Shame there are so few on the island to enjoy it.
Monday 9th - Althought the nights are still pretty cold, the days have been warming up quite nicely, with tops of 14 - 17 C. Despite some rainy periods, it's been mostly fine.
NOTICE: FROM 9|3|15 - 31|3|15 THE KEFALONIA FERRY IS UNDERGOING SOME MAINTENANCE AND WILL BE REPLACED WITH THE ZANKYNTHOS FERRY FROM IONIAN LINES.

Wednesday 11th - Not much to tell. It's quiet. It rains sometimes, it's sunny at other times. Coolish at night, but fine during the day. Great weather to start walking around the island again.
Winter has seen a few small landslides, especially on the road to Ag. Ioannis. Nothing too bad.

Thursday 12th - Beautiful day again today after a few days of rain. Spring is definitely in the air.
Below is an open thank you letter from the North Ithaca school community to a benefactor.
To Ithacan Philanthropic Society:
On behalf of the children & teachers of the Stavros Primary School, the Parents Committe would like to thank the Society & it's members for making the refurbishment of one our classrooms possible. (photo left)
The money was originally raised by the Society to fix the school's leaky roof, however we were unable to make any changes to the building as all such works must go through & be approved by the school board. We were however permitted to use the money to make changes to the interior & the schoolyard.
It was decided that the old metal cupboards used for storage were rusted & not efficient for a classroom, not to mention ugly & a mordern storage unit with working bench space would be the most usefull way to utilize the money raised by the Club. The amount raised was 3,300 euro, the cost of the storage unit was 2,340 euro, the remaining amount was used to paint 2 of the other classrooms which were in dire need of brigtening up.
We are sending you some before & after photos of the classroom & hope in the near future to be able to renovate the other classrooms. We have also sent 30 of our calendars that could be sold in Australia to help the funding of these projects.
