Dimitris Danis' tribute to his friend John Stuart Anderson

Dimitris Danis was a close friend to John Stuart Anderson.  When John died in 2002, Dimitris, with the help and encouragement of Ricky Church, Johns partner and Manager, set into action a tribute to a man he greatly admired and missed by exhibiting his life through his memorabilia, photographs, stories and plays which he presented to the island of Ithaca.

Dimitris Danis also translated and Directed a Monodrama written by John Stuart Anderson, In The Garden Of Medea into Greek and presented it to the Ithacan Community at the Cultural Centre in Vathy.  It Premiered on Friday 11th April to rave reviews.

The Exhibition recreated one of John Stuart Andersons Theatre dressing rooms, surrounded by some of Johns souvenirs, many of which he took on tour with him around the world, designs from his performance costumes , tapestries, which he worked on during his travels, and a collection of Teddy Bears, of which he was a dedicated collector.  Much of this collection has now been donated to Childrens Hospitals.

The Exhibition was  held at the Vathy Gallery.  All who came to remember John or who came to know him for the first time through this collections of writings, photographs and personal affects , were thrilled by the atmosphere created by Dimitris Danis in remembrance of a great  Solo Performer, Actor and friend, John Stuart Anderson.

Dimitris Danis continues to translate John Stuart Anderson stories, monodramas and plays into Greek and has plans to present them in venues across Europe and the UK, so that Johns talent does not die with the man, but lives on in the theatres and hearts of the next generation.
