Hi,Erica Years now i am "looking" to your job . As lover of Ithaca have to say : thank you..... I am (and pround for that) ithacian ,from Lefki As Captain on tanker-vessels had the opportunity in 2008  to pass from ithaca for threetimes (!!!!!!!!!) with my vessel "Astro Sculptor"=105.000 DWT It was one of best feelings which my life at sea gave to me. Some old ithacian friends took some pictures which i am sending to you and if you find nice, can have them in your site. Again a "huge" thanks for ithacanews you offer to us so many years. Hope to see you at summer time Friendly Spyros Paxinos from Ithaki

Hello Erika, just a short note to tell you how fantastic the website is looking. Really love the 'make over'. A friend introduced me to your site many years ago now and I have religiously logged onto it several times a week. Can't wait for my finances to allow a holiday on Ithica. It's my dream. Thank you again for brightening up my days, weeks and years. All the very best to you for 2010. Mary-Anne Downing UK

Hi Erika, I just love your new WebPages, really great – the colour is just terrific, very pleasant and relaxing on the eyes. Photos, as usual and without a doubt – are fantastic- so alive – the scenery is out of this world – BUT then were ARE referring to ITHAKI !!! Brings back a lot of nostalgia – it is great to see the island developing into a real hive of activity and young life. Congratulations once again and many thanks for your enthusiastic efforts in bringing to us the beauty of our beloved Ithaki. Kindest regards George & Spyridoula Coutsouvelis ( Melbourne Aussieland)

Hello, we're coming to ithaka in July and your webpage has really helped us and enthused us for July to come as quickly as possible. If the island is even half as good as what is displayed on your site (ithacagreece.com) then we won't be disappointed. Thank you for your time. Karl and Emma Drydon UK

Hi, I am coming to Ithaca in the summer for my holidays and would just like to say thanks for the wonderful website and all you hard work creating it. It has really wetted my appetite and helped me decide on the location for my holiday this year. It was especially of pleasure during our  38 days of snow and ice this winter, now our spring has finally come following yours. Roll on July. You mentioned your prime love was music. How can I hear some of your recordings? David Bream  in Spring like North Yorkshire England

Hello Erika, It is nice to see that you have posted pictures of our beaches on the southern part of the island, and it also saddens me to hear about the trash on Sarakiniko. Though the Greeks are not innocent, the problems started with European squatters that were allowed to live there in tents in the early 70's and it just kept getting worse. My parents brought us to the US as small children 37 years ago, yet my heart will always be in Ithaki. Keep up the good work and please post pictures of the south when you get a chance Nikolaos Theodoratos

Hi Erika, Just thought I'd say hi. The website is looking great, and the pictures make the world of difference. As you can see by my email, I'm currently at work, and thought I'd check out the website, as part of my weekly updates I do, to see what is happening over there. The sun seems to be shining, which is a good thing. My sisters and I, and my dad, are arriing on Saturday, and we can't wait.. Well, more like I can't wait, since they have just had a summer in South Africa, Winter in London, was a cold one. Although the sun is starting to shine this side too, but still breezy winds, it's warming up slowly, shall we say. I cannot wait for the freshness of the island though, and I hope it warms up while we are there J and the rain stays away, I'm a bit sick of rain,, hehehe Anyway, I'm sure we'll see you around there, hope you keeping well.Take care Melanie

Dear Erica, Such great pictures these panoramic ones are just wonderful. That one of the sweet shop in Stavros turned my stomach over .It looked just like my back sitting as usual drinking . I miss Ithaca so much I never really understand why. Tom and Nancy UK

Just returned to Ithaca with my family after 3 years away and realized what I was missing. Had a lovely time met lots of my old friends in the tavernas and shops in Vathy, they are truly lovely warm and friendly people. One big change I did notice was the amount of rats either as road kill or openly running through some of the top restaurants in Vathy. I don't know what you think but it may be humane to neuter and spade the cats (which are vastly reduced in number) but with the rats natural predator unavailable the rat population has grown out of hand. However it won't stop me returning to a beautiful island which still remains unspoilt and miles apart from mass tourism. Steve Tyson

Sorry to hear you have been unwell but hope that you are feeling much better now. I thought there must have been something amiss as there had been no activity on the site, so glad to see you are on the road to recovery. Paul and are due out to Greece on the 12 Sept so we will no doubt be turning up to see you all soon after that.Take care of yourself  and we hope you will be fully recovered by then.Love to all. Paul and Mel.

Hope you are well soon. We didn't manage to meet you in early August when we were in Ithaca but may well do another year. We will certainly be back. What a beautiful island and great people. Regards, David and Joan Bream from North Yorkshire

Good morning Erika. Great news for Ithaca.  It should also increase the interest towards your island. https://www.imerisia.gr/summary.asp?catid=14067 The announcement, by the University, took place in Ithaca a few days ago.
Stella, as well as a friend of mine from Stavro attended that presentation. Costas

Hi Erika, It's excellent news that archaeologists from the University of Ioannina have found Odysseus's palace on Ithaca. But surely it was only a matter of time? No matter how often ‘scholars' revisit old theories and dress them up as their own, hoping to prove that Homer's Ithaca was actually somewhere else, it just doesn't work. They miss the point completely. Ithaca is unlike any other place.  The only thing better than your first visit is the next - when you really start to appreciate why Odysseus was so determined to return home. Any doubt as to the true location of Homer's Ithaca disappears when you are here. The Odyssey and the Iliad come to life on this rocky isle, indeed unsuitable for horses. And remember, Homer was a storyteller, not a cartographer. Yet, read Homer in Ithaca and you will see that every location fits perfectly with the text.  Odysseus did not return to this island for the scenery. He came back for its people, and that is exactly why so many return year after year – to see their friends, our friends. We'll be back too. And look forward to seeing the true palace. (again). In the meantime, look after your history. Mike  (Mikalis Paparazzi) . PS: And keep up the good work on the website. It's much appreciated.

Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer,
EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.
We should've known….. .

ONLY women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit
all around the world in one night and not get lost.
A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
